Sadness

It's sad to be alone. Last night my next door neighbor passed away. He was in failing health for a while and wanted to do Hospice Care at home. He was quite a character. He once started and owned a very successful company that owned its own planes and he amassed a small fortune. But as the years went on he had no family, no Aunts ,Uncles ,cousins , sons or daughters. It was just him and his wife. She has been in a state of dementia for a while requiring 24-hour aids to be with her. In passing, his wish was meager. A company called the Neptune Society picked up his body at the house. They do a very cheap $600 cremations and spread the ashes at sea. There is no wake, no obituary, no services just a wife left home alone with her aids and doesn't understand that he's gone. Many people in the neighborhood got to know him very well ,and enjoyed his company when he was with us. He will be missed and in the fall we hope to have a memorial service for him. RIP Del.
